only the clear sea but the cosmopolitan life, the unique
therapeutic water springs of Loutraki and the Loutraki casino

Further more within easy reach are the Canal that joins
the two gulfs, Ancient Nemea ( sites with equivalent to
the Olympic games ), the port of Kenchreai ( St. Pauls disembarkation
point in the Peloponnese ) and the Ancient Diolkos where
ships were towed from the Saronic Gulf to the Corinthian

Ancient City ( Ancient Corinthos): |
There is much in this region to see, such as the archaic
temple of Apollo, the ruins of the theatre and Roman school
of music, the Asklipeio, the remains of the gymnasium, the
tribune from which St. Pual spoke to the Corinthians etc.
In the museum you can admire the findings of the Geometrical
age, the famous Corinthian pots and other objects from the
archaic to the Roman and Byzantine periods.
To the southern region, stay at Akrokorinthian hill, an
old castle with monuments and spectacular views. |

The city of Loutraki: |

The Diolkos and the Corinth Canal: |
In the late seventh or early sixth century BC, the tyrants
of Corinth constructed a paved road called the Diolkos.
Along this ran the olkos, a wheeled vehicle on which ships
were borne overland from one side of the Saronic Gulf to
the other Gulf of Corinth, which was more than 6500 meters
in length.
In 1882-1893 the canal as we see it today, was built by
Greek and French engineers, to link together the two seas
and to save ships about 185 nautical miles to their voyage.
Today visitors can take a short cruise along the length
of the Corinth canal, with a guide explaining the history
and development of the canal as you enjoy your trip. |

Isthmia: |
| An archeological site with a temple, theatre
and stadium. The importance of Isthmia can be deduced from
the fact that one of the four great Panhellenic festivals,
the Isthmian Games, was held there. |

Ancient harbors of Lecheou and Kenchreai: |
| These were very important harbors in ancient
times. On the East Corinthia, ( side of Kenchreai ), the
sea, sun, the green waters and picturesque villages are
the perfect place for vacations. The port of Kenchreai was
the one that St.Paul disembarked from, when he visited Corinthos. |

Nemea: |
Here in Nemea, grapes and wine are the honoured
quests. Recently on the grounds of Ancient Nemea, the Nemea
Games, which were an equivilant to the Olympic Games in
ancient times, were revived and so in the ancient stone
stadium, among umpires dressed in black to mourn Opheltis,
time goes back and men can once again find the yarn and
myth which leads one out of any kind of labyrinth.
Since 1996 when the Nemea Games were revived, these have
become a popular activity among both locals and visitors
to the region. This year, the Third Nemead will take on
the 31st July, and everyone who would like to be part of
these games are very welcome to come and participate. |

Mountainous Corinthia: |
| Stymfalia lake and Mount Ziria
(2375) are an interesting place for those who love nature.
You also can admire the artificial lake "Doxa",
which reflects the surrounding mountains, forests and oak
trees. On your way to come back, you must stop at Eurostini
and Zacholi villages, especially in autumn, when the trees
are full of warm colours. A slight breeze during your strolls
will make you feel original emotions, while a shower of
multi -coloured leaves will follow your every step. |

Religious monuments: |

All over the area there important
religious monuments as well as archaeological ruins.
Included in them are the Monastery of Osios Patapios, the
old Monastery of Prathiou, the Monastery of Lehova, the
Monastery of Panagia on Korfiotissa hill, which offers a
magical view of the Corinthian gulf and the Fonissa Ravine
at the foot of the hill.
There is also the famous Monastery of the "Assumption
of the Virgin Mary", which was built in 12th century,
the sacred Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni and a lot others
